Tonks nodded, and gave another shudder.
"Yeah, it's well creepy!" she looked over her shoulder again, but what with all the masks and costumes nobody was sticking out and making her Auror radar so much as blip.
She looked at Jane and shook her head. "No, who's performing? If it's Celestina Warbeck, I'm going back to work. Molly plays her stuff in the Burrow all the time, and I think she sounds exactly like a cat trying to go to the lavatory through a sewn-up bum." She paused and added hastily, "Not that I've ever heard that... but it's what it made me think of."

Sanguini smirked and walked towards Jane and her friend. As soon as he reached them, he tipped his traditional Bauta hat to them and bowed low.
"Ladies..." he said, straightening up and winking at Jane. He wondered would she notice the red eyes beneath the mask and recognise him. "I must say, your costumes are exquisite."
His costume was a relic from an actual Venetian masquerade when he was still a young vampire of around sixty years of age. It had been quite a night of debauchery and decadence. He sighed a little, knowing it would not be recreated tonight.
Dante, being pureblood on his mother's side, and having inherited some of his father's prejudices against Muggle-borns, shifted uncomfortably. He didn't want to disagree with Lady D, so he just nodded and said, "Quite!" like the coward aristocrat swine he was.
He caught her gaze and turned to look at the peacocks. He raised and eyebrow and decided that red and gold was a much better look, but he should really ask for the name of their tailor...
"How monstrous!" Dante remarked, stunned that the Ministry would stoop to such tactics. They were supposed to be the 'good guys', after all. But, then again, what more did he expect now that the Ministry had Death Eaters inside it, like so many worms in wood.
He couldn't hide the girlish squeal of excitement when she asked did he have a request. He fanned his face with his hands (despite the fact that the skull mask stopped any good it might have done) and said in an awed voice, "D'you know 'Whiskey In The Jar'? It's an Irish song, I've always wondered how it would sound if you sang it!" He eventually recovered himself and said more calmly, "If you don't know it, just sing your favourite song. I am sure it's rare indeed that you have the pleasure of singing your very favourite tune!"
He leaned forward slightly and said in a stage whisper, "If you ever need a violinist, I'm your man. I'm rather good, if I say so myself!"
*Shrugs.*
"Well I don't suppose the word 'please' has ever been in the Ministry dictionary."
*Grins and nods.*
"Actually I do know it. It would be a pleasure to sing it for you, reward you for keeping me company these last few minutes."
*Squints her eyes for a minute and changes her hair to shocking bright pink, her usual stage colour.*
"You'll be my first port of call for a violinist, you just need to reveal your identity to me a bit later on."
*Winks at him and checks the time on her muggle watch as a few more people arrive..*
"Shoot I better go and get ready, I'm due on stage in a few minutes."
*Blows him a kiss and shimmies towards the backstage area.*

Lady Delish.. who doesn't sound like a cat trying to go to the lavatory.. at all.
*She said trying to hold a fit of laughter. The Image she had in her mind right now was both disturbing and hilarious.*
Evening!
*Smiles big at the man? (wasn't sure quite yet), who'd approached. Giving a quick little curtsy and giggle. Her chipper demeanor changing when she caught the wink, did she know him? OH!.. it was him! The vampire, it had to be he had the same eyes!*
Enjoying the party?!
*Sounding odd, or maybe not.. she couldn't hear herself through the thumping in her chest*
--walks into the medow and knew he was late, but his mask just would not stay put. He couldn't see Fred around so he went for the first person he did know... well that he actually liked anyway, cause he'd spotted Draco not two minutes ago. No he makes his way to Neville, who was looking more than a little nervous if truth be told and it make George grin as he came up beside him and slapped his shoulder firmly--
Neville! My friend, how are you?
"Holy--!" Neville almost jumped right out of his skin as he was slapped on the shoulder, but reeled it in before using a word his Gran really didn't approve of.
He raised his eyebrows at the man in front of him. A Weasley twin - he never could tell the difference. "Don't do that Fr..Geor.. Whichever one you are."
He glanced around him, eyes scanning the hidden faces. "These masks are giving me the heeby-jeebies if I'm honest." he admitted, a little reluctantly."I don't know why I came here."
"Would you like us to clean out your ears for you?" inquired George, pulling a long and lethal-looking metal instrument from inside one of the Zonko's bags. "Or any part of your body, really, we're not fussy where we stick this," said Fred.

Ophelia arrived at the ball, wearing a green ballgown that had once belonged to her mother, and a feathered mask to conceal her identity. She didn't bother to change her hair colour. She wasn't sure if Severus would go to the masque, and she wanted to leave something for him to recognise her by.
She glanced around, and spotted Dante immediately, recognising the costume he had spent weeks preparing, and giggled. She also identified her father in his beautiful Venetian costume that was almost as old as he was. There was no-one else there she recognised, and she walked through the crowd, avoiding the weird bloke in leather and nearly cracking up when she saw a man in a corset and suspenders.

*Walks gracefully into the party, scouting things out before entering the tent. Wearing a one of a kind mask, that was tied with a black ribbon behind her hair.*
*Takes a glass of wine and sips. Being very watchful to make sure no one steps on her dress with their dirty shoes*
*Smiles big at the man? (wasn't sure quite yet), who'd approached. Giving a quick little curtsy and giggle. Her chipper demeanor changing when she caught the wink, did she know him? OH!.. it was him! The vampire, it had to be he had the same eyes!*

Sanguini stepped closer to Jane and said in a sultry whisper, "I believe you are holding my cloak for me. Perhaps I could trouble you for a dance once the music begins?" He glanced over Jane's friend and smiled appreciatively. "And perhaps your charming young friend will grant me the same honour?"
He smiled at Tonks, his expression apologetic. "It would be ungentlemanly of me to ask you to dance first, when I am not in your acquaintance. I am dreadfully old fashioned, you see."
He tipped his hat to the ladies and stepped backwards.
"Come find Bauta when you are ready for a dance with one who truly has been to a Venetian masque, and knows all the old steps as though t'were only yester evening," he said, layering his voice with just a hint of his vampire influence, before walking towards his daughter to keep her company.

Tonks looked ecstatic at the news that Lady Delish was playing. "Oh my GAWD, you are kidding me, yeah?!" she shrieked. She looked at the stage and saw the coolest witch in music taking to the stage, and gave a little fangirl squeal of excitement.
Her squeals caught in her throat when she saw a man with ice pale skin approaching them. Her hand went instinctively to her wand, but as soon as he started talking she felt like his voice was doing things to her. She shivered, and tried not to look like a staring buffoon.
"Pleasure to meet you, innit!" Tonks replied, her voice a bit too high pitched. She looked at her friend, and realised that she must feel quite the same as she did. "Yeah, sure, I'll dance with you..." she heard herself agreeing without even thinking, and she wondered what was wrong with her. Frigging vampires... she cursed him mentally.
